You’ve wandered into the topsy-turvy world of Tulgey Wood, the blog of writer and historian Jim Fanning. Tulgey Wood celebrates artistry and creativity (and sometimes just plain madness): movies, animation, TV, books, comics—and of course Disney, lots and lots of true-blue, through-and-through Disney, including D23 and Disney twenty-three Magazine, and Sketches Magazine and the Walt Disney Collectors Society. Tulgey Wood is so fun, fascinating and full of frolicsome photos and facts, it’s scary. So wander through the wonder of it all, and enjoy.

Welcome To The Countdown To Halloween 2017

It's time to start the Countdown to Halloween 2017. To regular visitors—my, don't you have a cute/scary/beautiful costume this year. If you don't have a costume, you're still welcome to have a treat or two. To new visitors—Tulgey Wood is full of surprises, treats and even a few spooky tricks, so I hope you enjoy wandering through the mad happenings. To get the Countdown ticking, here's a rare seasonal cover of the Yosemite Sam comic book (aka Yosemite Sam and Bugs Bunnyaka Yosemite Sam (and Bugs Bunny), aka Is Yosemite Sam a Pirate or a Cowboy?) Issue #55, cover dated September 1978, portrays Bugs getting the upper hand over Sam through the use of a clever mask. (Ironic given that Sam always wears a mask.) The fact that Bugs may not get any candy in his trick-or-treat (or, as the bag actually reads, "Trick For Treat) sack indicates that, as per usual, he'd rather get Sam's goat than obtain the ostensible goal. Either that, or he will just take all the candy now that he has scared Sam away.  I hope this unexpected treat starts things off right in your goodie bag, and also inspires you to come back every day this month as Tulgey Wood marches in this Halloween parade of a blogathon for the sixth consecutive year.  Be sure and visit the other blogs participating in this Halloween blogathon. These "crypt keepers' are giving out the best candy this year so be sure and knock on their doors. (But be aware that some of these blogs focus on the more horrific side of this holiday, and may also include strong language and mature themes.)  Most of all, be sure and stop by throughout the month right through October 31st itself as we Countdown to Halloween 2017 here at Tulgey Wood.

Great cover!

Do you know if there was any Hallowe'en content on the inside of this book, or did it only have a Hallowe'en-themed cover?

Thanks for your comment, Scarecrow. No sadly it wasn't a Halloween themed issue.
